Before I became a trustee, in 2021, I was always an admirer of Coin Street. As a Londoner and Lambeth and Southwark resident for over 20 years, I’ve been inspired by Coin Street’s vision of a neighbourhood that is truly for everyone, in the face of growing inequality in the capital and an escalating housing crisis.
As a professional with a background in housing, family support, youth services and community development, Coin Street has shown me and many others what great place making is all about.
And as an exhausted new mum, I’ve also experienced the warm welcome and the excellent services delivered from the neighbourhood centre when I needed them the most. I was sad to move outside the area and miss the chance for my kids to attend the nursery – many friends were lucky that their children experienced the magic of Coin Street too.
Instead of soulless office blocks and luxury apartments, there is a thriving community in the heart of SE1, here for the generations to come!
