Sotis Filippides produces handmade ceramics, each pot, bowl and vase thrown by hand and fired in a kiln.
Sotis Filippides makes contemporary ceramic wall installations and vessels. Each piece is a tribute to his love of texture. The rough, textured surfaces are created using fine textured clay from Stoke-on-Trent and the natural earthy hues by use of copper and iron oxide glazes.
Sotis’ works are often inspired by organic forms, from trees, dry leaves and roots to black volcanic rock. He spent childhood summers in his family's house beside the sea in Greece. The shapes and colours of the pebbles and shells, and the textures of the rocks and driftwood left a deep imprint in his memory, and they can all be found in his latest work.
